TECNIQ Breaks Ground on New Purpose-Built Headquarters in Oval Park, Maldon

British automotive engineering specialists, TECNIQ, begin construction of an advanced manufacturing facility, marking a new chapter in the company’s growth and renewed commitment to Witham and the Maldon district.

TECNIQ, the British design, engineering and manufacturing business supplying some of the world’s most prestigious automotive marques, has broken ground on its new purpose-built facility and headquarters at Oval Park, Maldon.

The development, located a short distance from Witham, where the company has been based and grown over recent years, will bring TECNIQ’s operations together in a facility designed specifically for advanced manufacturing. It marks a significant investment in the business, its people and the local area, while also creating the capacity to take on more programmes and welcome more employees in the years ahead.

Staying close to where ‘home’ is
The choice of Oval Park reflects the journey that began on a much smaller scale. TECNIQ – formerly ADP Special Projects – started with one workshop as a small, specialist design and engineering business, based in West Station Yard, Maldon. Extraordinary growth over the following 15 years has brought rapid expansion of facilities and a team that now covers more than 100,000sq ft over multiple sites today. The new headquarters offers the opportunity to expand into a purpose-built facility, split into two build phases, which is designed around the activities, skills and capabilities of the modern-day TECNIQ operations.

Built for the next stage of growth
The move will allow TECNIQ to consolidate operations, improving efficiencies and enabling the business to scale more effectively to meet increasing client demand. The new facility is intended to support the foundations for the company’s next phase of growth, under one roof.

This supports the vertically integrated approach at the heart of the business, from design and engineering through to tooling, prototyping, testing and production. In-house capabilities include low-pressure injection moulding, leather and Alcantara trimming, structural and non-structural carbon fibre production, coatings, assembly, and laser etching and marking, all delivered with Formula 1-grade machinery, processes and talent.

Completion of Phase One, on the south plot of the site is currently scheduled for mid-2027. Further development on the adjoining plot will follow as programmes progress and expand.

Designed for efficiency and sustainability
The new facility has been designed with environmental performance at its core. The building has been designed to achieve an EPC A rating, supported by rooftop solar panels that will generate renewable electricity on-site. Energy-efficient U-values and high-performance glazing will reduce heat loss and energy-demand, while high-efficiency lighting will be installed throughout, both internally and externally. A sustainable on-site surface water drainage strategy will manage rainfall responsibly, and electric vehicle charge points will support staff and visitors.

Backed by investment and partnership
The new headquarters follows the investment made in TECNIQ in March 2025, when Tioopo Capital acquired a majority stake in the business. The partnership with TECNIQ was established with a vision to strengthen TECNIQ’s existing client relationships, expand its international footprint and further cement the company’s leadership in the ultra-premium bespoke automotive market. The Oval Park development is a tangible expression of this shared ambition.

The new facility will support the continued growth of TECNIQ’s apprenticeship programme, which was recognised with a Princess Royal Training Award. The company currently employs 16 apprentices, who work in conjunction with Colchester Institute. TECNIQ plans to continue to support and expand the programme as the business grows and the new facility comes online.

“Oval Park marks a significant milestone for TECNIQ,” explains Nigel Lempriere, Chief Technical Officer and founder. “It’s much more than a new facility; it’s an investment in our people, our world class design, engineering and manufacturing capability we’re building here in the UK. It is a very tangible statement of our long-held ambition to build one of, if not the, world’s leading centres for creative, advanced automotive engineering and specialist, low-volume manufacturing.”

“Breaking ground on Oval Park is one of the clearest signals we can give of our long-term commitment to TECNIQ,” added Cyril Aboujaoude, co-founder of Tioopo Capital. “Since we invested, the business has grown from 190 to more than 330 people and become a true end-to-end partner to the world’s most demanding automotive brands. This purpose-built site brings that capability together under one roof, giving a world-class team the platform for its next phase of growth. Building lasting businesses is exactly what Tioopo exists to do.”
