Bellway North London has acquired the final parcel of land for new homes at St James’ Park in Bishop’s Stortford.

A planning application was submitted last month to build 52 homes on land off St James’ Way to the south of the wider development. This will be the fourth phase of development by Bellway within the project.

Bellway currently has planning permission in place for 498 new homes at St James’ Park, which are being built under the Bellway and Ashberry Homes brands, with 422 of these now completed.

Greg Allsop, Sales Director for Bellway North London, said: “Our acquisition of this additional land parcel at St James’ Park is testament to the strong local demand for high-quality new homes in the Bishop’s Stortford area, and will bring the total number of homes we’re delivering within this new neighbourhood to 550.

“The detailed plans for The Granary at St James’ Park comprise a range of two to five-bedroom houses for the private market, including seven custom-build homes, and 18 one and two-bedroom apartments for affordable rent or shared ownership, providing a varied mix of housing for different needs and budgets.

“The new homes will enjoy an attractive and convenient location surrounded by green corridors and open space and close to the proposed local centre for St James’ Park, which is planned to include a new community centre, a Co-op store, a gym, and a children’s nursery. It’s also within easy reach of Bishop’s Stortford town centre and road links to Stansted Airport and the M11.

“The design of the homes has been inspired by local architecture, both through the palette of materials and the distinctive architectural features chosen. This includes traditional-style homes in keeping with earlier residential phases of St James’ Park, as well as more contemporary buildings which reflect the style of the local centre and neighbouring care home.

“Our detailed application has now been validated by East Herts District Council and, subject to planning approval, we hope to be in a position to start construction work on the site around the end of this year, and to release the first homes for sale in the spring.”

There’s currently a choice of two, three, four and five-bedroom houses available to reserve within Bellway’s current phase of development at St James’ Park, with prices starting from £390,000. There are also four and five-bedroom houses by Ashberry Homes available at Maltings Place at St James’ Park from £540,000.
