Scania reveals its next generation of coach to the world – the new Scania Touring.

It builds on its predecessor’s strengths and takes them to another level. This new vehicle includes significant upgrades to the passenger environment, the driver area, powertrains and
exterior.

The Touring coach has been a vital part of Scania’s bus and coach line-up since it was first introduced in 2009. And now, this new generation looks to build on the legacy the previous
Touring left, including gaining strong commercial momentum and recognition in the travel segment, especially in the UK.

For this next iteration, Scania has thoroughly upgraded the Touring, including the inclusion of better aerodynamics, digital rear-view mirrors and the inclusion of Scania’s highly efficient
Super powertrain.

While the driver will benefit from improved visibility and an enhanced digital dashboard, which puts all the latest information and entertainment at their fingertips. Inside, the interior
has been upgraded to enhance comfort, add more passenger amenities and increase the luggage capacity.

Sundeep Kumar, Head of Portfolio Management for People Transport Solutions at Scania, says: “The new generation Scania Touring is a significant improvement of what is already an
advanced and highly appreciated coach.

“It combines the reliability and energy efficiency that customers expect from Scania with a much anticipated, new Scania-specific design as well as key upgrades in luggage capacity
and for the driver and passenger experience.”

Improving the Touring experience

Lots of focus has gone on improving the interior of the new Scania Touring to make the overall experience for the driver and the passengers better and more comfortable.

The driver area has improved visibility, thanks to changes to the front door and side window, which sees the B-pillar move 90mm back. This gives drivers a better view of their surroundings.

The Touring has also expanded its digital dashboard interface, by providing drivers with a central information display that allows them to control functionalities such as passenger
infotainment, navigation and reversing cameras. It is also compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Meanwhile passengers will experience a modern onboard environment. The wider and deeper staircase steps improve accessibility, while redesigned luggage racks and increased
luggage compartment further enhance the Touring’s appeal.

The new Scania Touring is also available with upgraded interior design options, including Kiel Avance X seats with USB-C ports, new colour and trim alternatives, and ambient lighting
that contribute to the travel experience.

Powerful as well as smart

The introduction of the new Touring sees its powertrain line-up get an upgrade too.

It will be available with Scania’s efficient Super powertrains, which can save between 8% and 10% on fuel and emissions. It’s also easier to maintain and in-service lifespan has been
increased by 25%, which all adds up to strong performance and reliability. It is also futureproofed to be Euro 7 compliant.

In the future, operators can expect the Touring’s powertrain line-up to grow further, with a battery-electric version of the popular coach set to join the range first.

A smooth operator

The new Scania Touring has gained some sharp new looks giving the coach a more distinctive look. It has integrated Scania’s latest design language to create a clean and elegant, yet robust, look.

The redesigned exterior is more than just a visual update. The new Touring comes with improved aerodynamics, designed to reduce energy consumption and lower noise levels.
The addition of digital camera rear-view mirrors helps reduce air drag further, while providing better manoeuvrability and visibility, and the high position of the rear lights make the vehicle
more visible from a distance.

The overall end result is a coach that presents a modern appearance, while supporting efficiency, comfort and safety in daily operations. The Touring brings together the best of Scania – from its chassis, technology, design and powertrains into one solution.

Sundeep Kumar says: “With the new generation Scania Touring, we have refined the whole vehicle and user experience with a state-of-the art design, improved comfort, efficiency, and
uptime.

“All in all, the new Scania Touring provides great value for operators, drivers and passengers.”
