KGM Motors UK, formerly SsangYong, is strengthening its support for customers making the switch to electric, with both of its fully electric models now benefiting from government grant support.
The Torres EVX full-size electric SUV has become eligible for the £1,500 Electric Car Grant, reducing its starting price from £35,495, while the all-new Musso EV qualifies for the £5,000 Plug-in Van Grant and is available at £39,995 including VAT.
The two schemes are designed to help reduce the upfront cost of moving to a zero-emission vehicle. For eligible vehicles, the grant is incorporated into the purchase price by the supplying retailer, making the saving straightforward for customers without the need to make a separate application.
For customers looking to make the move to an electric SUV, Torres EVX combines distinctive styling, generous interior space and genuine SUV practicality with a fully electric powertrain.
Powered by a 73.4kWh BYD lithium iron phosphate battery using cell-to-pack technology, Torres EVX delivers up to 287 miles of WLTP range from a single charge. It also offers 207 PS and 339 Nm of torque, a towing capacity of up to 1.5 tonnes and between 703 and 1,662 litres of load space, giving customers the flexibility required for everyday journeys, family life and longer adventures.
Vehicle-to-load technology allows compatible electrical equipment and appliances to be powered directly from the vehicle’s battery, while rapid charging can replenish the battery from 10 to 80% in approximately 28 minutes using a suitable rapid charger.
The BYD battery comes with a class-leading 10-year or 1,000,000km battery warranty, providing additional long-term reassurance for customers considering the move to electric.
For customers looking for an electric pick-up without compromising on everyday usability, the Musso EV brings together SUV-style comfort, practical load-carrying ability and all-wheel-drive capability. Priced from £39,995 including VAT and the £5,000 Plug-in Van Grant, Musso EV is the most affordable electric pick-up currently available in the UK.
Its 80.6kWh battery, also sharing the same BYD technology, provides up to 290 miles of WLTP city driving range, while a dual-motor electric drivetrain delivers full-time all-wheel drive, 207 PS and 339 Nm of torque. A 690kg payload, 2.3-tonne braked towing capacity and self-levelling rear suspension give Musso EV genuine versatility for work, leisure and everyday use, while vehicle-to-load functionality enables customers to use the battery to power tools, equipment and compatible electrical devices away from the grid.
For fleets, businesses and company car drivers, the financial case extends beyond the £5,000 grant. Musso EV attracts a 4% Benefit-in-Kind rate for the 2026/27 tax year, giving it the lowest Benefit-in-Kind charge of any commercial vehicle currently available in the UK, with personal tax costs from around £30 per month for a 20% taxpayer. Combined with the potential for lower energy and maintenance costs associated with an electric powertrain, it gives fleet operators a compelling alternative when assessing whole-life vehicle costs.
Kevin Griffin, Managing Director at KGM Motors UK, said “Making the move to electric needs to work for customers financially as well as practically. With Torres EVX now benefiting from the £1,500 Electric Car Grant and Musso EV qualifying for the £5,000 Plug-in Van Grant, there is additional support available to help reduce that initial cost of switching.
“Just as importantly, both vehicles have been designed around real customer requirements. Torres EVX provides the space, range and versatility expected from an SUV, while Musso EV combines electric power with the practicality, towing capability and all-wheel drive customers expect from a pick-up.
“Musso EV is particularly significant because it brings a more accessible entry point to the electric pick-up market. At £39,995 including VAT and the £5,000 Plug-in Van Grant, it offers strong value for customers looking for the space, versatility and capability of a pick-up with the benefits of an electric powertrain. For fleet and company car users, the 4% Benefit-in-Kind rate and tax costs from around £30 per month strengthen that proposition further.
“At the same time, we recognise that there is no single powertrain that suits every customer, business or journey. KGM will continue to offer genuine choice across our range, from petrol and diesel to self-charging hybrid and fully electric. Our aim is to give customers the freedom to choose the vehicle and powertrain that best fits the way they live and work.”
That breadth of choice remains central to KGM’s UK product strategy. Across its award-winning range of SUVs, 4x4s, pick-ups and commercial vehicles, customers can choose from petrol and diesel powertrains, KGM’s latest Dual Tech self-charging hybrid technology and fully electric vehicles.
From Tivoli and the self-charging Torres Hybrid and Actyon Hybrid, through to the seven-seat Rexton and award-winning diesel Musso range, alongside the fully electric Torres EVX and Musso EV, KGM continues to offer customers choice rather than a one-size-fits-all approach to electrification.
